Troy Anderson started out playing the Trumpet at the early age of 10, growing up in a Bahamian family filled with music. He started playing in church brass bands, and later with the Bayonne Bridgemen Drum & Bugle Corps.
After his years with the Bridgemen, Troy enlisted in the US Army as a Paratrooper which brought him to Germany. He performed there with German Dixieland bands where his performance in the style of Louis Armstrong became quite popular. Later, after a serious accident, doctors told Anderson that he would never be able to play the trumpet again, but Troy began to rebuild his chops by learning to play Armstrong’s note for note solo on Azalea.
Anderson's Armstrong is too natural to be called uncanny. He starts out with the look and slips easily into the rest- the dinner jacket, the trumpet with handkerchief, the roly-poly voice and the joie de vivre.
“Simply the best Satchmo Tribute band I have had the pleasure to see and hear!” (Sean Piccoli, Florida Sun-Sentinel)
“Anderson is simply amazing as Louis Armstrong.” (Stu Grant, South Florida Jazz Radio Personality)
